This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of GEM Premium People who are trading as an employment business.

My client based in Newton Aycliffe are looking for an experienced

position for a Distribution Operator within our pallet network operation based at our site in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will work alongside an established pallet network distribution team and will assist on the smooth and safe running of our transport operations.

Duties will be wide ranging and will include the following:

Planning deliveries and collections throughout the North East.
Assisting network customers with various information including ETAs and delivery updates.
Day to day management of driving staff and resolution of issues.
Driver de-brief and management.
Supervision of vehicle loading and driver start times.
Computerised job processing on Transport Management System.

Candidates must be able to provide a high level of customer service.

Candidates will be expected to carry out any other relevant duties as requested by the Line Manager to ensure the effective performance of the operations function.

Candidates must be flexible to work a 42.5 hour per week between the hours of 06.00 and 23.00hrs plus a rotational Saturday morning. A willingness to work nights to cover holidays and absences would also be preferable.

We are looking for someone with a good attitude, maturity and dynamism, who is highly organised and able to work on their own initiative. A high level of IT literacy is essential. Experience in the transport or logistics industries is essential. Candidates that hold a National Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers will be preferred.

The salary for this role is £19,500 per annum with 25 days holiday entitlement plus 8 statutory days.
