Gem Partnership are delighted to be appointed by a multi-national automotive organisation to identify and appoint a Hardware Engineering Lead for their offices here in the North East.

The role holder will lead a hardware development team to achieve project goals, escalating for more senior level support in a timely and appropriate manner. You will collaborate with all project teams to ensure consistent and accurate delivery of hardware products.

Role Responsibilities:
• You will be the figurehead of ‘Hardware Development’, for both internal and external (e.g. customer) facing.
• Ensuring the role of your Hardware team can be fulfilled by understanding its needs and by facilitating its requirements
• Leading and mentoring your Hardware team
• The effective line management, operation and development of your Hardware team
• Ensuring that hardware development follows the organisations internal and any Customer product development and quality procedures.
• Reviewing, improving, maintaining and creating hardware development procedures.
• Identification of methods to improve quality and efficiency of hardware development activities.
• Hardware development activities including:
o Working with product line, sales, marketing and engineering to understand product specifications
o Work with systems engineering to interpret product specifications to hardware specifications
o Hardware design and documentation.
o Hardware verification and validation
o Hardware design safety

The role holder will hold experience and skills the following areas:
• Leading, mentoring and developing your team of hardware engineers
• Creating, maintaining and applying strong processes to assure quality of hardware design and development

• Hardware design - Ideally at least one of:
o HarPower electronics: - Motor inverters design and development, IGBT and MOSFETs and gate driver design
o Digital and Analogue electronics: - Microcontrollers, signal acquisition and conditioning, low power SMPS, logic circuits and similar.
• Experience in communicating with customers, senior management and project teams.

Qualifications & experience required:
• BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent. 2.1 or higher grade
• Significant and proven professional experience as a leader and electronics engineer
