Role:
Ensuring the effective delivery of the Civil Engineering design production information from initial concept to full road & sewer design packages to current standards & regulations with relevant section agreements and supporting the Head of Engineering in the effective delivery of the Engineering team function.

Responsibilities:
• Support the Engineering team in the delivery of high quality Civil Engineering design solutions from concept appraisal into production information packages within business plan delivery timescales.

• Undertake site analysis to understand the constraints and opportunities of a site, working with the Head of Engineering and Technical Coordinator to ensure Engineering constraints are fully considered & appraised to assist with land purchase viability reports.

• Preparation of detailed drawings and calculations to obtain technical approval for adoptable highways & sewers on residential developments in accordance with local authority & NWL specifications including S38 and S278 for highways and S104, S116, S185 etc. for sewers.

• Drawings to be produced using AutoCAD Civil 3D package or similar and drainage design/calculations to be produced using industry standard software.

• Preparation of housing development plot works, external / retaining levels & geometric setting out for NHBC and/or Building Regulation approval.

• Preparation of 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut & fill exercises and vertical road profiles etc.

• Act in a professional manner in accordance with best practice and committed to quality and innovation.

• Assist the Head of Engineering to deliver the Engineering team function which includes due diligence reports / services / adoptions and all Engineering production information.

Person:

• Ideally a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or working towards this.

• Must be able to demonstrate experience of working independently on the preparation of detailed Civil Engineering road & sewer design packages from initial concept site appraisal.

• Competent in the use of appropriate codes of practice, adoption standards and procuring sectional approvals with the relevant statutory authorities. Awareness of current technical issues within the residential construction sector.

• Experience working within new build housing sector either with a house builder or from a consultancy background.

• Confident user of technical applications such as Civil 3D and MicroDrainage. Computer literate with proven CAD skills.

• Residential design knowledge & understanding of statutory technical approvals (38/278/104).

• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, working to tight business plan deadlines and effectively manage own workload.
