The Role
We are currently looking to recruit a Business Improvement Leader for a high profile Engineering & Manufacturing organisation in the North East who are market leaders in their field.

This role requires an individual with an Operational Excellence (Opex) and Continuous Improvement mindset, with a strong track record in driving Organisational Transformation across a wide range of direct and indirect functional areas. With an industrial engineering and/or business systems focus, the successful individual will find ways to eliminate waste and improve efficiency in a wide range of business processes utilising structured methodologies and change management focus.

Specific Responsibilities

The individual will prioritise via a structured philosophy and focus on processes and transactions to develop improvement strategies that address short, medium and long term business objectives.

Through data analysis and effective stakeholder engagement, develop forensic methods and models to design manufacturing, information systems and business transactions to reduce waste and improve overall company performance.

Utilising Lean Sigma, Value Stream Mapping and other Improvement methodologies to identify areas that require enhanced control and working with Engineering, Operations and other support functions identify methods to improve these.

Make recommendations regarding ergonomic and safety improvements for current methods of manufacturing.

Support business wide strategic projects, including developing reports and data for presentations, project plans for implementation and the facilitation of improvement workshops.

Develop an understanding of best practice within the organisation and where applicable benchmark the external environment, including monitoring and auditing processes.

Support Process Engineering and Capital Investment activities to ensure effective product flow and efficient operations are maintained.

Lead on, and participate fully in continuous improvement and root cause activities utilising utilising Kaizen events, 8D, 5 Why’s, Value Stream Mapping and FMEA.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant Engineering or Business discipline, be capable of demonstrating a continuous improvement outlook via previous experience in leading on structured Operational Excellence activities within a complex orgasnisation.

Strong communication and influencing skills are a prerequisite for this role, with an ability to work effectively under pressure in a target driven and challenging project and production environment.

Candidates from a variety of industrial, engineering and project environments will be considered, providing there has been a strong culture of change management and operational excellence.
