Job Description

The Role:

The Risk & Compliance Officer will support the Head of Governance and Risk, to fulfil the Group’s regulatory requirements ensuring that the Group has an effective risk management and compliance monitoring framework in place.

• Support the Head of Governance and Risk to embed the risk management framework within the Group’s business activities and ensure that the framework is being applied in practice.

• Support the Head of Governance and Risk in implementing service improvements.

• Develop and maintain the Group’s strategic and operational risk registers and the development of effective risk mitigation plans with risk owners at all levels of the organisation.

• Analyse risk data and other performance metrics to assist in the preparation of Board reports and other internal risk reporting.

• Support the Head of Governance and Risk in developing and delivering training and awareness programmes.

• Co-ordinate the Risk Management group meetings, chairing the group as required and ensuring that new, emerging or escalating risks are discussed and appropriate action taken.

• Liaise with and support the Group’s risk champions ensuring that they are kept up to date with current practice and requirements.

• Maintain the Group’s assurance matrix.

• Support the Head of Governance and Risk in the maintenance of and compliance with the Group’s business continuity plans, ensuring plans are tested on a regular basis.

• Assist in the assessment of compliance with the Regulator of industry regulatory frameworks.

• Assist in carrying out compliance monitoring tasks as detailed in the compliance programme to ensure that the Group complies with laws, regulations and internal Rules and policies

The Person:

• Have an understanding of a risk and compliance environment and risk management and internal control methodologies.

• Excellent literacy and report writing skills.

• Excellent IT skills including the knowledge of risk management and project management systems.

• Be able to analyse, evaluate risk data and present this in a way that can understood within the organisation.

• Be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.

• Experience of working in a business risk management environment.

• Experience of business continuity management is desirable.

Qualifications and Training

• Full or working towards a professional qualification in business risk management.

• Hold a degree or equivalent qualification (desirable).
