GEM Supports Fish4Jobs Career Fair

On the 10th September, GEM Partnership in association with Fish4jobs and Channel 4's Fairy Job Mother, Hayley Taylor, took part in the North East leg of the Fish4jobs national roadshow in Northumberland Street Newcastle.

Jobseekers were able to book a personal career advice session with Hayley and have their CV reviewed by recruitment experts from GEM Partnership's Commercial and Contact Centre divisions, as well as discussing job opportunities that we are currently recruiting for.

The team arrived bright and early at 8.30am on a drizzly and windy Saturday morning, but this did not deterred the job seekers who had turned out in droves, seeking their next career opportunity.

As the day progressed countless CVs were reviewed, advice was handed out and many candidates were invited in to our head office in Newcastle to register and discuss several employment opportunities, mainly within Contact Centre, Hospitality and Commercial sectors. The rain continued unabated, in fact it managed to get worse in the afternoon but  did not stop visitors from queuing to seek advice; the turnout of candidates was phenomenal despite the weather.

Since meeting with job hunters on the 10th September we have had an overwhelming response with CVs being submitted online across several sectors including Contact Centre, I.T, Hospitality, Engineering and Commercial. We are delighted to support these individuals in their search for work - some highlights include Paul who is attending an interview as a Customer Service Technical Advisor, Pippa who is looking forward to her interview next week for an administration opportunity and we are waiting for feed back from other candidate meetings for a number of hospitality opportunities in the region.

The aim of the road show was to reach out to jobseekers in the region, provide up-to-date and relevant advise and bridge the gap between them and potential employers in the northeast. The team at GEM feel the day was a real success and would like to thank all those who got involved for their contribution.
