Rob Mayman crowned GEM Champion Golfer 2011

A crack internal team of eight golfers from GEM descend upon Northumberland for three days of intense stableford competition, with clear winner Rob Mayman emerging triumphant in the first ever GEM annual golf weekend.

With rounds at Percy Wood, Seahouses and the formidable Dunstanburgh links, the final scoring had Rob Mayman way out in the lead, with Anthony Antoniou second and Lee Rankin a close run third place.

Rob played consistently well over the three rounds, notching up a very respectable 81 points, with Antoniou and Rankin at 69 and 68 respectively with all 8 runners playing off 3/4 handicaps.

Rob won the coveted GEM Champion Golfer of the year trophy which will reside in the Peterlee Branch until he defends his title in 2012. GEM's golfing ranks have swelled further over the summer with Paul Lawson and Tom Greenhaulgh joining the business in July and both regular players. The 2012 competition is therefore promising to be an even tougher test, with the directors already plotting the venue.
