To contribute to the delivery and realisation of engineering activities/work such as plant and equipment modifications and alterations, complex equipment troubleshooting and similar. This will involve preparation, development, research, testing and local engineering project management work in line with business unit requirements. The Engineer will work under technical supervision of line manager and senior colleagues, supporting with a range of activities to meet business unit objectives.
• To co-ordinate equipment improvements in conjunction with Asset Engineering colleagues (such as Maintenance Technicians, Reliability Engineers, Project Engineers) and Business Unit Operational colleagues and by following established SOPs.
• To actively engage in hazard studies / SRA studies and discussions, as appropriate to role level.
• To develop and present plans for introducing new and replacement equipment within the existing facilities and, upon agreement, overseeing the safe execution of the plan leading to successful handover for ongoing operations in accordance with project / client requirements.
• To be responsible for providing clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations and similar in an agreed format.
• To input in agreeing weekly workplans with local Maintenance/Operational personnel, project managers and other relevant stakeholders, and delivering plan to agreed schedule.
• To oversee the timely assessment, progression and resolution of assigned Engineering Work Requests, ensuring relevant stakeholders are kept informed of progress and involved in relevant decision points
• To assist Maintenance Technicians in the resolution of Maintenance Work Orders if enhanced troubleshooting or investigation is required.
• To liaise with external contractors, such as Original Equipment Manufacturers, their (UK) Agents, other specialist repair services etc, as necessary for the execution of the above responsibilities, including the co-ordination of site visits and appropriate safety documentation to effect a safe system of work for site implementation.
The Person:
Educated to HNC or Foundation Degree level as a minimum in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus very relevant industrial experience Or Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline with 2 years asset engineering experience.
Will possess technical expertise through theory and a good underpinning knowledge, as well as evidence of technical problem solving.
Will exhibit professional mastery of principles and practices in both electrical and mechanical engineering, gained in academic or industrial environments.
Can demonstrate evidence of knowledge sharing and network building practice across teams or groups.
Has the ability to apply theoretical and practical electrical and mechanical engineering methods to contribute to business activities.
Can provide examples of actively utilising cross-team collaboration to achieve desired results.
Has the confidence to use own judgement and initiative within standard engineering / scientific practices, as well as an understanding of when to seek advice from colleagues.
Good problem solving skills with the ability to logically trace faults to their root cause and identify steps to repair the problem.
