As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking a motivated and experienced Functional Skills Trainer to join our dedicated team.
The Role
This is a key role supporting the success of our apprenticeship delivery. As a Functional Skills Trainer, you will focus on developing learners English and/or Maths to meet the needs of their apprenticeship programme.
You’ll deliver tailored Functional Skills training and provide individualised support to ensure learners not only achieve their qualifications but also gain the confidence and skills to thrive in their career.
This role will involve designing and delivering personalised learning plans, identifying and addressing additional learning needs and supporting learners on both apprenticeships and classroom learning with effective strategies and resources that enable them to overcome barriers to learning.
You will also work closely with Trainers to prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA), ensuring learners can apply their skills confidently in the workplace and support on mock assessments and project presentation support to distinction level.
Key Responsibilities
– Deliver engaging and inclusive Functional Skills English and Maths training to apprenticeship learners
– Identify learners with additional learning needs and develop appropriate strategies and support plans
– Provide 1:1 and group-based interventions tailored to individual learning styles and abilities
– Work closely with the wider delivery team to integrate English and Maths development within the vocational programme
– Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessment and EPA, embedding English and Maths link to workplace and job role
– Track and monitor learner progress, adapting support as needed to ensure timely achievement
– Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement to teaching and learning practices.
What We’re Looking For
– A recognised teaching qualification
– Level 2 or above in Maths and English
– Knowledge and experience of supporting learners with additional needs, including developing and implementing support strategies
– Understanding of the apprenticeship standard and End Point Assessment preparation
– Strong communication, IT, and organisational skills
– Commitment to inclusive teaching and continuous learner development.
