Better Health at Work – Maintaining Excellence Award 2026

GEM Partnership are delighted to have been awarded Maintaining Excellence for the second year running by the North East Better Health at Work scheme.

Following on from being awarded Maintaining Excellence for the first time last year, the company and our Better Health at Work team set the goal to regain Maintaining Excellence for 2026 and following some fantastic work, initiatives and commitment business wide we are delighted to say we have been successful in achieving the standard.

At GEM Partnership we are committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, candidates, learners and all stakeholders involved with our business activities. We make health, safety and wellbeing an integral part of everything we do and ensure that it is embedded in the training of our people, the robustness of our controls, our communications across our activities and within the culture of our business.

We believe that the health, safety and wellbeing, both physical and mental, of our employees including agency associates at peak is an important factor in contributing to the business success. We take all reasonably practicable measures to ensure a safe environment, continually reviewing and improving our health, safety and wellbeing standards. We provide specialist health and safety advice whenever and wherever required and encourage a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture throughout GEM Partnership, we work to our 3-year strategy and our action plan to meet our employee’s needs.

Our Project Lead for the award said:

GEM Partnership has demonstrated a strong commitment to workforce health, safety, and wellbeing through its 3-year strategy, monthly Wellbeing Meetings, Health Advocates, and 12 Mental Health First Aiders. The campaigns cover physical and mental health, cancer awareness, work-life balance, and men’s and women’s health, supported by accessible communications via Apps, emails, and social media. Staff engagement, social value initiatives, and financial wellbeing support are evident, with equality, diversity, and health literacy embedded throughout. GEM’s external promotion of the BHAW award awarded them as County Durham Shining Star 2025.
