Celebration of Success – Etex. Remagin

29/5/25

Everyone at GEM Partnership loves to celebrate the success achieved by our learners, given the hard work and commitment it takes to complete their learning.

Following on from our recent celebration of success (https://www.gempartnership.com/celebration-of-success-ian-newton-and-ryan-morgan/) we’re delighted to be able to offer our congratulations to Daniel Purdie, Mason McMeekin, Michael Koyojo, David Hallas, Edward Samuels, Richard Simons and Jon Paul Dennis on the completion of their Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing!

Feedback from their trainer was very positive: “Both groups were very engaged throughout each of the sessions and participated very well during group activities. They were eager to learn and implement activities completed during the sessions, into their own working area. It was good to see them have an understanding of how the qualification impacted on their roles”

Speaking about the reasons for the training, Cluster Plant Manager,  Scott Parkin said:

As a manufacturing site, we’re always looking for ways to strengthen the capability and confidence of our people. The decision to roll out Level 2 training for all Operators and Team Leaders at our Newton Aycliffe plant was driven by two key factors: upskilling and investing in our team’s long-term development.

We recognised that many of our colleagues had strong practical knowledge but hadn’t yet formalised that experience with structured learning. By introducing Level 2 training, we aimed to bridge that gap—enhancing technical understanding, reinforcing best practices, and aligning everyone with consistent quality and safety standards.

Ultimately, the goal was to empower our teams to make more informed decisions on the shop floor, reduce variability, and foster a culture of professional development. This training also supports our succession planning and strengthens our operational resilience as we continue to grow.

We’ve seen a noticeable uplift in confidence and engagement from those who completed the training. Operators are now more proactive in identifying issues, suggesting improvements, and taking greater ownership of their work areas.

From a performance standpoint, we’ve seen improvements in consistency, particularly around quality checks and adherence to standard operating procedures. Team Leaders are applying more structured thinking when it comes to daily problem-solving, and communication across functions has improved as a result.

There’s also a clear morale boost—it’s powerful when people feel genuinely invested in. The training has helped build trust and shown that development isn’t just for a few; it’s for everyone who wants to grow. We’re already seeing the return on this investment through greater productivity, reduced errors, and a stronger, more capable team overall.
