Helping Young People Prepare for the World of Work

GEM Partnership Supports Future Careers at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy

GEM Partnership was delighted to be invited to St Joseph’s Catholic Academy to take part in the school’s recent Careers Day, helping students explore future career opportunities and develop valuable employability skills.

Representing GEM Partnership, Tom and Kirsty delivered interactive workshops to Year 9 and Year 10 students, providing an insight into who GEM Partnership is, the services we provide, and the wide range of career paths available within the world of recruitment and business support. The sessions also included practical activities designed to encourage students to think about the skills employers look for and how they can begin preparing for their future careers.

The day concluded with a series of mock interviews for Year 10 students, giving them the opportunity to experience a realistic interview environment and receive constructive feedback to support their future applications.

Reflecting on the day, Kirsty said:

“Overall, I found the careers day to be a really positive and engaging experience. The event was well organised, and it was great to see so many young people actively interested in learning about different career pathways.

Events like this are incredibly important because they help broaden horizons and raise aspirations. Being able to speak directly with employers helps bring career opportunities to life, giving students the confidence to ask questions and start thinking more clearly about their future pathways.

One of the most memorable aspects was the level of engagement from the students. It was a rewarding experience and a great example of how valuable these events can be in supporting young people to make informed decisions about their futures.”

Anne-Marie Whyte, Leader of Careers, Transition and Character at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, thanked the team for their support:

“Thank you to Tom and Kirsty for joining us for our Careers Day. The workshops were a valuable insight into GEM Partnership, as well as helping our students to think more about their careers when they leave school and how they can acquire skills to make them stand out from the crowd.

The mock interviews in the afternoon for some of our Year 10 students were brilliant, and Kirsty and Tom made all their interviewees feel relaxed and provided written feedback for each one, which will be of great use when they start applying for jobs.”

GEM Partnership is proud to support schools and young people across the region, helping to inspire the workforce of tomorrow through meaningful engagement with education. We would like to thank St Joseph’s Catholic Academy for the invitation and look forward to supporting similar initiatives in the future.
