New Appointments – Carolann McFarland & Sharon Teal

GEM Partnership are delighted to welcome Carolann McFarland and Sharon Teal to the team working within our Training department

Speaking about the appointments, Natalie Brown – Delivery Manager said:

Carolann has joined us as our new Curriculum Development/Trainer. Carolann is very creative; she has a strong desire to explore new ideas allowing us to develop a unique curriculum for our learners at Gem Partnership.

Sharon joins us as our new Employability Trainer; Sharon is passionate about training and loves to see her learners achieve their learning objectives. We are excited to have Sharon on board and look forward to her positive impact at Gem Partnership.

We caught up with both Sharon and Carolann about their experience so far:

Sharon:

I have worked in education since 2006.  My career in education started at NA College where I was employed as a Tutor Assistant.  My career progressed as I gained qualifications in teaching, leading to employment as a Functional Skills Tutor.  Previous to working in education, I worked as a skills assessor for a training provider, and prior to that I worked in customer support and admin positions.

I was attracted to apply after seeing the company values and the scope of what the company delivers.  I originally applied to be a Functional Skills Tutor but was then offered the position of Employability Trainer.  This role sounded interesting and after reviewing the diploma content, I decided to give it a go.

Carolann:

I worked many years in adult social care and retail, and 15 years ago I made the decision to return to education and retrain as a tutor after spending time volunteering as a classroom assistant and being able to provide additional support where needed. During my time as a tutor/training I have had the opportunity to delivered many different courses including adult social care, functional skills, manufacturing, hospitality, education & training and IQA.

(What made GEM attractive to you as an employer?) The opportunity to be able to do curriculum development, IQA and to still be able to deliver training.

My first few weeks have been really good with everyone making me feel welcome, and I have enjoyed being able to do some curriculum development.
