Job Description?
Are you a natural leader with a passion for safety, people and performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? Our client is looking for a Zone Leader to oversee a section of their production operation.
About the role
As Zone Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a defined production area, ensuring your team consistently meets safety, quality, delivery and cost targets. You’ll coordinate people and resources, keep the lines running efficiently and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
Lead, coordinate and support a team of operators within a high-volume manufacturing area
Champion Health & Safety, driving our zero-incident culture and completing risk assessments, safety checks and audit follow-ups
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, quality requirements and customer specifications
Plan, organise and control daily/weekly/monthly production to meet targets and business forecasts
Identify non-conforming material, ensure segregation and follow escalation processes for quality concerns
Drive continuous improvement, including 5S and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
Conduct root cause analysis to resolve issues and identify business improvement opportunities
Train, coach and develop team members on products, processes and best practice
Manage time and attendance, including sickness, return-to-work interviews and unauthorised absence
Support disciplinary, grievance, capability and incident investigations where required
Experience and knowledge
Proven experience managing teams in a high-volume, high-quality manufacturing/production environment
Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques and recognised quality control tools
Good grasp of production costs (waste, downtime, scrap, rework) and how to improve them
Track record of leading, coaching and motivating teams to achieve and exceed targets

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong ability to plan, analyse and challenge to improve performance
Positive drive for continuous improvement within production
Able to work under pressure and make sound decisions at pace

Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 in Team Leadership (or equivalent experience/qualification

Nights – 11pm – 7am
